Welcome to our Black Histories Amplified event. Committed to social impact, Equality Leaders brings to you a curated panel of Black speakers this Black History Month to centre and amplify their voices.
Black history is all too often one that is centred upon Black trauma. While it is important to acknowledge and understand the legacy of slavery, it should not be the single narrative told. A plethora of Black histories exist but have for too long been marginalised, or erased altogether from the annals of history.
These Black histories tell us the stories of Black brilliance, innovation, culture, identity, community, joy and belonging. It is time we redress our knowledge gaps and accept Black history as history.
Our panel brings together Black speakers who hold their respective industries to account in recognising industry wealth being built upon a system of enslavement, but also seek to move the conversation beyond this; by showcasing the role Black excellence, vibrancy, and inimitability play in redefining, recreating, and rebuilding more equitable systems for thriving Black communities.
We challenge you to step into Black History Month with respectful curiosity, with a willingness to listen to understand, and with an openness to celebrating Black intersectionality. Each one of our speakers carry a unique perspective on the Black experience.
Black Histories Erased: Redressing Our Knowledge Gaps
- A guided practice which reminds us of how we have been shaped by those who came before us.
- Whether our relationships with our ancestors were healthy or difficult, they influenced us.
- Awareness and gratitude for those who pathed the way for us to be at the Men's Summit today.
